Adventure Session at Providence Canyon State Park | Liz + Kevin
Who's afraid of a little rain?
I had a blast capturing Liz and Kevin's adventures on a beautiful Spring day in Providence Canyon State Park, Georgia.
While adventure sessions are a fabulous opportunity to capture a couple in a relaxing yet engaging environment, the session becomes even more exciting when it's a new place for both myself and the couple! I had a great time exploring Georgia's natural beauty with Liz and Kevin. The day had a few surprises in store โ but more on that later!
The Couple
Liz and Kevin love traveling and going on adventures together, and what they wanted out of this session was to capture who they really are โ two "very chill and goofy people." Because of the pandemic, they were never able to have professional photos taken in their wedding attire. The solution? Liz brought along her dress so we could document some stunning bridal portraits! Well, let me tell you, we captured some really special moments between them! From air guitars to piggy back rides, it was an adventure session to remember.
The Location | Providence Canyon State Park
Providence Canyon State Park is one of Georgia's "Seven Natural Wonders," and it offers miles and miles of trails through beautiful woods, around the canyons, and through the stunning canyons themselves. True to their nature, Liz and Kevin hiked around the trails before the session started. After linking up with Liz and Kevin at the canyon trailhead, we made the steep climb down into the canyons, and thankfully I figured out which way to go from my exploratory hike earlier that day. We made our way to one of the more open canyons, capturing some candid shots of Liz and Kevin on our way there. While the state park started out full of tourists, the weather thinned out the crowd soon after--it started raining! About a mile from the trailhead, we briefly took shelter under a small group of trees. Liz and Kevin both wanted to push on with the shoot, and I'm sure glad they did! After a few minutes of casual shots in their hiking attire, Liz and Kevin put on some more formal attire. For Liz, that meant putting on her wedding dress! While you might not think that red Georgia clay, rain, and a white wedding dress would mix well, the outcome was stunning! I am so glad I got to capture those moments for Liz and Kevin, and I'm so glad that dry cleaning is a thing.
Eventually, the rain blew over and we made our way to a few more beautiful spots within the canyons, finishing off the session by making our way back up to the trailhead and meandering around to one of the lookout points over Providence Canyon State Park. Now close to sunset, we got some beautifully lit photos with an amazing backdrop of the salt-white canyons, red clay, and the golden sky.
I love the opportunity to capture these special moments, and I'm so glad that Liz and Kevin reached out to book me for their adventure session at Providence Canyon State Park. It's always enjoyable getting to know people and helping them make unique memories last forever!
