Where Motherhood Meets Creativity | A Branding Session at Weaver House

When Rachel proposed the idea of a session involving her daughter in her weaving studio, she wanted to capture more than just her work as an artist. She wanted to celebrate the intersection of motherhood and creativity — her dual role as both a business owner and a mom to her daughter, Sylvie.

Weaver House, Rachel’s Philadelphia-based yarn shop and weaving school, is dedicated to preserving craft tradition through hand-making and weaving education. Since opening in 2019, Weaver House has grown from a small, organic beginning into a full yarn shop serving both in-person and online customers, alongside a vibrant weaving studio that hosts workshops and community events.

For this session, we let Sylvie take the lead — exploring yarn baskets, watching her mama at the loom, and wandering freely through Rachel’s beautiful space at the Bok. The shop itself is stunning: shelves lined with colorful tones of yarn, natural textures, and beautiful wooden looms that tell the story of Rachel’s craft.

Some of the sweetest moments were the simplest ones: Sylvie sitting in Rachel’s lap as they wove together, wrapping herself up in handwoven textiles, or flashing her golden curls and bright smile as she played on the wooden floor. These small details are exactly what Rachel hoped to remember — the snuggles, the smiles, the beauty of creating and caring at the same time.

Branding photography doesn’t always look like headshots and laptops. Sometimes, it looks like a mama and her daughter, side by side, surrounded by the art and business that Rachel has poured her heart into.

If you’re a small business owner, your brand story deserves to be told in a way that feels true to you. Sessions like this are about honoring your work, your space, and the life you’re building — and sometimes, that includes little feet running around the studio.
