Seaside Golden Hour Proposal at Florida 30A
Picture this: you and your friends are in Seaside, Florida, and you’re about to propose to the love of your life. You don’t even need to use your imagination – here’s how it turned out!
Brooke and Jacob were such a fun couple to shoot at their 30A proposal, and in such a beautiful setting! 30A has incredible potential as the scene for any shoot, but it’s hard to beat capturing a proposal in Seaside at golden hour.
The Couple
Brooke and Jacob are both Army aviators, and they met at the beginning of flight school. They really got to know each other when they were assigned as “stick buddies,” partaking in many long hours of training together in simulators and in real life helicopters. Jacob said that he loves Brooke’s imagination, her sense of humor, and her drive to do more in every aspect of her life. While they describe their perfect date as a cozy night in, their zest for life when out and about together is contagious! I had a great time capturing them and their friends during this truly special afternoon.
The Location
If you’re looking for special places for your Gulf Coast proposal, Seaside in 30A is definitely a strong contender. There are beautiful brick streets, a picturesque pavilion, and tons of shops to pass the time, and then there’s the beach and the setting sun when it’s time to pop the question!
The Proposal
Brooke had some stipulations about the proposal – she wanted her best friend, Emma, to be there, and she wanted there to be a ring (shocking, we know). As far as Brooke knew, Jacob didn’t have a ring with him in Seaside, and Emma was still at her home ten hours away. On their way to the beach, Brooke knew something was up, but she figured it couldn’t be a proposal without a ring and her best friend! Little did she know that Emma was waiting for her on the beach, Jacob’s friend Stacy had the ring, and I was hiding at our planned proposal spot. Knowing how a girl with a backpack and two cameras might cause some suspicion on Brooke’s part (ok, Emma and Stacy being there might have been a tipoff, too), I hid behind a trash can (it worked, why are you laughing?) to capture that perfect 30A proposal.
Jacob’s friend Stacy was standing by to start the music, and Jacob got down on one knee when the song “Banks” by Needtobreathe began playing. As Jacob said, it’s “their song,” and represents how they hope for their love to grow and flourish as they themselves grow and are faced with new challenges and pulled in all of life’s different directions.
The sugar white sand, blue water, and hazy golden sky were the perfect backdrop for this session in Seaside. Thanks to a prescribed burn miles and miles away from 30A, the usual golden hour was more of a golden-gray, but Brooke, Jacob, and their friends did a great job helping me capture some great casual, candid shots. I couldn’t be happier with the result!. After the session finished, we parted ways and I grabbed dinner at North Beach Social, a restaurant near Grayton Beach in the evening Florida breeze.
