Ponte Santa Trinita

When it comes to iconic Florence photography, the Ponte Santa Trinita with the Ponte Vecchio in the background is a must. This location perfectly encapsulates the romantic vibe of the city, with the Arno River reflecting the colorful buildings and the historic Ponte Vecchio standing proudly in the distance.

The Arches Next to Ponte Vecchio

Just a short stroll from the Ponte Santa Trinita, you'll find a series of charming arches nestled beside the Ponte Vecchio. These arches provide a more intimate setting while still offering that unmistakable Florentine charm. The play of light and shadow through the arches creates such a romantic backdrop!

Streets of Florence and Piazza del Duomo

Florence is a city best explored on foot, and the streets around the Piazza del Duomo are perfect for a couples or engagement session. As you wander through the cobblestone streets, you'll discover a variety of picturesque spots—each more pretty than the last.

The historic center, with its beautiful buildings and window sills, adds a touch of authentic Florence vibes to your photos. And, of course, the Piazza del Duomo itself, with the magnificent Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, provides a beautiful backdrop, as well.

Boboli Gardens

Located behind the Pitti Palace, you’ll find the Boboli Gardens. With its manicured lawns, beautiful statues, fountains, and sweeping views of Florence, the Boboli Gardens provide a picturesque setting that feels very regal and intimate.

Piazzale Michelangelo

If you're looking for a panoramic view of Florence, Piazzale Michelangelo is the place to be. This famous square offers a breathtaking vista of the entire city, with the Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio, and Ponte Vecchio all visible from this elevated vantage point.

The Uffizi Gallery Courtyard

The Uffizi Gallery is one of the most famous art museums in the world, but its courtyard is also a beautiful spot for photos. There’s grand columns, classical architecture, statues and arches - everything you may want for dreamy Italy couples photos!

The Bardini Gardens

Less known than the Boboli Gardens but equally beautiful, the Bardini Gardens offer a more intimate setting for your couples photos. The gardens are terraced, with wisteria-covered pergolas, fountains, and stunning views of Florence from the top.

Via de' Tornabuoni

This is one of the most central streets in Florence. It’s lined with high-end fashion boutiques and elegant Renaissance buildings, offering a chic and luxurious backdrop for your Italy couples photos.

Sree & Kavya’s Florence, Italy Engagement Photos

During my time in Florence, I had the pleasure of meeting Sree and Kavya, a lovely couple who were exploring the city for their one year anniversary. We first crossed paths during the climb to the top of the Duomo at the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore—a climb that is not for the faint-hearted! The 463 steps to the top felt like a hike, and we were all out of breath by the time we reached the summit. Once we all made it to the top, we took in the stunning views of Florence together.

After chatting at the top, I discovered that they lived in Philadelphia! Meeting fellow Americans so far away from home is always fun. I showed them some of my work on Instagram, and before we knew it, we had planned an impromptu couples session for the next morning. We started our shoot on the Ponte Santa Trinita, moved through the arches next to the Ponte Vecchio, and ended our session back at the historic center. The entire experience felt serendipitous, and it was a joy to capture their love story against the enchanting backdrop of Florence.

While this was their anniversary couples session, it is a great inspiration to what your Italy engagement photos could look like here!
